What We Do
Ape Care Volunteers at the Center for Great Apes assist staff with the daily care and well-being of the chimpanzees and orangutans. Duties include cleaning outdoor habitats and night houses, hosing and scrubbing enclosures, preparing enrichment items, and assisting with laundry and sanitation tasks.
Volunteers do not have direct contact with the apes but play an essential support role in maintaining a clean, safe, and enriching environment. This position requires physical activity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to animal welfare and safety protocols.
